Alfa Plan Level 3 | Access Open and Current Restrictions

pla alfa 3

Due to the current weather conditions and the high risk of forest fires, Level 3 of the Alfa Plan has been activated.

Access to the Montserrat Sanctuary by road, the Aeri cable car and the Cremallera rack railway remains open. Access to the Montserrat Natural Park also remains open.

With the activation of Level 3 of the Alfa Plan, all previously authorised or notified activities that may pose a fire risk are suspended. The Rural Agents are responsible for ensuring compliance with these restrictions, which include:

  • Lighting fires in any open area is prohibited.
  • Temporary suspension of all permits for burning crop residues, permanent pasture, pruning waste and forestry debris.
  • Lighting fires in roadside rest areas, recreational areas and campsites, including designated barbecue areas, is prohibited.
  • The use of machinery or equipment in forest areas and within a 500-metre radius that may generate sparks, explosions or electrical discharges is prohibited, unless expressly authorised or required for firefighting operations.
  • The use of fireworks and pyrotechnic material is prohibited.
  • Throwing away or abandoning burning objects or any material that could start a fire is prohibited.
  • Restrictions apply to the use of leaf blowers, angle grinders and similar equipment within 500 metres of forest land.

The activation of Level 3 of the Alfa Plan, together with the assessment of other risk indicators, may lead to the declaration of the INFOCAT Civil Protection Plan pre-alert phase.
