Hermitages Path
Distance: 2 hours, 7km.

Standing before the Abat Oliba Hostel, we head uphill along the paved path that passes in front of the lower station of the Sant Joan funicular.
We soon reach the signposted turnoff to the Sant Miquel Cross viewpoint, which offers breathtaking views. A few steps further up, we come to the Sant Miquel Chapel.
Continuing along the ascending trail, we reach the Sant Miquel pool, likely linked to the chapel’s ancient origins.
After about five minutes, we reach the Pla de Sant Miquel, where several paths converge. We take the one with a steep incline leading to the Pla de les Taràntules, a flat area just below the upper funicular station. In the same building, you'll find Nature Hall, which provides information about the mountain.

From the various trails that begin here, we take the one to the left, the Sant Joan Trail.
From Sant Joan Chapel, we can continue to the remains of the ancient hermitages of Sant Joan and Sant Onofre, embedded in a long fissure in the rock.
The restored Jacob’s Stairway also provides access to the Santa Magdalena Hermitage. From there, we can return to the monastery by retracing our steps, or alternatively, take the Sant Joan funicular from the Pla de les Taràntules.
